Onto today, was pretty good. Had 1 boiled egg with multigrain toast and scraping of low fat marg and half of a small banana. Lunch was pretty rushed as I had to get to school so just had a low fat multigrain cheese sandwich and dinner was 100g steak with salad and oven baked chips. Used 2 points on low fat cookies that I had with mum this morning and that's it. Also went for my first walk today. Was so cool and cloudy this morning that I picked mum and up and with Bethany walking and Caitlyn in the pram we decided to see how long it takes to walk to her school (takes 2mins to drive). It took 20 mins to get there, then we walked around the school to show her her classroom, and some of the classrooms I used to be in. Then we walked home again. We were gone for about and hour in total so am happy with that. Hopefully when things settle down I will be able to walk her to school once or twice a week.

Well that's about it. Must log of and let the people I have tagged know that they have been tagged.

12 Week Challenge - Day 1

Well today is day 1 for me for the New Year 12 week challenge being run by Paulene.
My starting weight: 95.6kg (geez I knew I ate bad over the last week but I didn't think it was THAT bad!)
My goal for the challenge: to lose 500gm a week, taking me back to the 80's.

Day 1:
My eating hasn't been too bad. 2 pts for breakfast, 5 pts for tea but come dinner time I forgot that we promised Bethany last week to make homemade pizza. So I did the best I could. I went to my nearest supermarket and bought low fat mozzarella cheese and a totally different pizza base that was lower in fat, kj and points than the ones we usually use. I made myself a pizza with these ingredients and Pete and Bethany had their usual one. My pizza only consists of tomato paste, pineapple, bacon and the cheese so hopefully it wasn't too bad. Have had nearly a litre of water today, so thats a big step for me too. Haven't drunk so much water in a long time. Exercise was as usual my biggest downfall with not having time to get out and about although I did use my mums step machine in 5mins that I had free, so that's better than nothing. I can only hope to get out tomorrow or do more time on the machine.

On to other things. Tomorrow I am off to get Bethany's uniforms for school. I don't know if I have mentioned before that she has had to change schools this year because she is 700m outside the local intake area for the school she went to last year and they don't have enough places this year for people outside the boundaries. So we have had to pay out for all new uniforms and she has to make all new friends again. Luckily she hasn't taken it too badly. She thinks she had to change schools because now she goes all day instead of half days and also another of the girls who was in her class last year has also had to change for the same reasons so even if they are not in the same class they can meet at playtimes so she will know one person at least. Although, just yesterday we were driving past the road to her old school, like we do every single day (we live that close but hey what can you do) and she said out of nowhere "Mum I miss my old friends from school" so it does play on her mind a little. But she is really excited now that there are 3 sleeps to go!

Well enough from me. Hope everyone else has had a good start to the week and wish me luck to keep going good for the challenge, I'm gonna need it.

Growing up

Yep, Bethany sure is growing up. I always wanted to get her ears pierced but Peter wanted me to wait for her to make the choice. Anyway on Christmas Eve she saw her 7 month old cousin with her ears pierced and said she wanted hers done. Pete still wasn't overly keen so I told her she had to wait until she was 5. She ran into one of her school friends 3 weeks ago who was on her way to get hers done. I told her mum that Bethany was waiting until she was 5 but to let me know where she was getting them done (she wanted to find a place that did both ears at the same time.) She sent me an SMS telling me where she got them done and that her daughter only cried a bit. Well Tuesday we were walking past the place and there was a little girl in there getting hers done. Bethany asked me when she was getting hers done so I decided there and then she could get them done. Well her face went pale and she said, "not today I'm not 5 yet." I told her it was OK and she got upset and after about 15mins she told me she was scared. So my mum went and got hers done to show her how it was done. She still wasn't sure so I told her if she got them done she could have a donut afterwards. Well she ran into the shop and went through all the earrings to choose the ones she wanted. We had to wait another half hour for the second ear piercer to come back from lunch so they could do both at once. Then she scrambled for the chair and sat there with this massive smile on her face. They marked her ears and as they put the guns to her ears we stuck a lolly snake in her mouth. As they counted to 3 I told her to close her eyes and bite the snack and BANG! it was done. She tilted her head to the left, tears sprung to her eyes and she went "OOWW" and then she shoved the rest of the snake in her mouth. Before she could do anything else all the ladies getting their hair cut told her what a brave girl she was and how good she was that she didn't even cry and they got a mirror for her to look. The tears went away and the massive smile come back. My big brave girl was extatic. All she wanted to do was tell everyone that she had got her ears pierced. All the way home she kept saying "I love my new earrings" and "I'm a big girl now".(Daddy however was not as happy when I rang and told him and very unhappy with Mummy but by the time he go home and saw how happy she was, he was over it)

She chose a really pretty colour too.

Well onto other things. Still finding it hard to get motivated about my weight (which is still creeping up) although come Monday I'll have to thanks to Paulene setting a start date for the first 12 week challenge this year. Am trying to get the food aspect organised but it's the exercise part I will have trouble with until Bethany starts school full time in 4 weeks (they stagger with half and full days over the first 4 weeks to help them settle in). Like tonight there was about half an hour worth of sunlight left, both girls were asleep and I told Pete I was actually going to go for a walk. Changed my clothes, put my sneakers on and as I stood up, Caitlyn woke up. 20mins later she was asleep and I was sitting on the lounge taking my shoes off. Will get there in the end though.

Speaking of Caitlyn and sleep, last night was her best night yet. She had a feed at 7.45pm but took a while to settle to sleep and was finally down by 9pm. She woke at 4.10am this morning had a feed and slept until I woke her at 8am. I couldn't believe it. Now I am not quite sure what helped her with this. Yesterday I tried putting her little cot doona that she sleeps on without a problem on the lounge (see pic below) into her cot like a base sheet (mum thought maybe she was getting cold or that her mattress was to hard). Anyhow she actually had all of her naps in her cot for the first time ever. I also dressed her in a bond all in one stretch suit instead of her summer sleeping bag, just incase mum was right about getting cold. Whatever the reason, I'm not arguing.

Well I think I have dribbled on enough tonight. It is nearly 10pm so might head off to bed, just incase I am not as lucky as last night. Hope you all have a great weekend and I'll sign in on Monday with my starting weight for the challenge and the goal I hope to achieve in the 12 weeks I am on it. Thanks Paulene for giving me the push I needed.

Need a plan

Am back again. Have had not the best of weeks. It started last Monday when we took the girls (Bethany really) to Adventure World as we had promised her last year that we would after Christmas. The day went well until it was my turn to take her on one of the kiddies ride. She chose the rollercoaster as last year she was too scared to try it. We got on and the attendant could took 3 tries to close the safety bar on us as my legs were to big and it kept bouncing back up. I was so embarrassed. Even though I was under the weight limit (by about 5kg) my legs were just too big. After that I was too scared to try to go on any other kiddie rides with her and felt really down.

I continued to feel that way for the rest of the week and was feeling worse and worse about my weight. Then on Sunday I got my first TOM since Caitlyn was born and it hit hard. Seemed to reason out my recent moods though. On Monday I was in so much pain that I didn't even bother to attempt to weigh myself and took myself straight to a Chemist to get some pills. Then that day I was going through our old home movie videos to see which ones have been copied off the camera and I saw the Christmas 2005 video and I was sooooooooo much slimmer (about 15kg or so) and that just made my mood even worse.

Just today my mother and I decided to walk to my local supermarket instead of driving. She held Bethany's hand while I pushed Caitlyn in her pram. All up we were gone about an hour including walking around the shop and now my legs are already feeling like jelly. How unfit is that! A simple little walk and my legs hate me. So now things have settled down I am taking a new look at my plan to battle the bulge. I really need to get out for a walk at least 3 times a week somehow and I really need to stay away from chocolate (have been eating far too much of that lately). Am going to sit down tonight and work through meal plans and get things sorted. I need to do it or I can see myself hiting that size 20 mark again soon.

Here are some pictures taken before we left for Adventure World last week:-

My beautiful girls. I know I keep saying it but Bethany seems so so so grown up now.

Quick cuddles before we left. She really does love her baby sister.

Caitlyn 8 weeks old last Sunday. Where has the time gone?

And finally a big congrats to Paulene, Simon and Caleb on the safe arrival of baby Talyn last Friday.

Well am off now to get a little bit more work done before Caitlyn wakes from her nap.

Don't know how!

I don't know how but I managed a 1.4kg loss this week, taking me down to 92.9kg. I started the week off great but by about Thursday, naughty foods, bad snacks and too much eating returned. I also did not get out to do any exercise at all, although we did take the girls to the zoo on Saturday so maybe all that walking helped.

I am trying to get a lot of organising done so things can get back to normal. Bethany starts full time school in 3 weeks (my little baby) and things should ease up a bit as I will be able to spend time one on one with Caitlyn without feeling guilty and mum has offered to come and look after her so I can get to the gym for an hour or so. I am also dying to get back into my scrapbooking which I can do while she is napping and Bethany is at school. Just doing these things should start to return some normality to the house.

Have been reading this great book called "Teach your child to sleep" as Caitlyn does not want to nap in her cot at all during the day. I started following the tips and in just 3 days I could put her down for a nap without a dummy and she would sleep for an hour at least. In fact the other night I put her down to sleep at 9pm without her dummy. She woke twice during the night for a feed but returned to sleep without her dummy. Woke in the morning, had her morning feed, went back down for a nap and woke again around lunchtime. In total I went 16 hours without the dummy. Unfortunately we had a big family outing yesterday and was rocked or held to sleep 3 times so today she is back to square one so it looks like I will have to start all over again.

Speaking of which she had just woken again after sleeping just 15 minutes so better go.

Will make an effort to update more than I did last week. Sorry for those of you who have been checking in and nothing new but I just have to find time for everything.

Oh and good luck and best wishes to Paulene who looks like she may be having her bub in the next few days. You go girl.

Here I am

Well I hope you all found me OK. I wanted a fresh, new look for my blog but I didn't want to lose all the stats from my pregnancy and such so I thought it would be easier just to set up a whole new blog.

I woke up this morning, weighed myself(almost died, put on another kilo in 3 days), did my measurements and was raring to go. I had 3pts for breakfast but had forgotten that it was arranged for me to take Bethany to the movies to see Happy Feet. But I was a good girl and had just a diet coke and 5 twisties. Due to this lunch was all messed up and have only had a low fat choc chip muffin (we made them yesterday and there were 2 left so we had one each). Now we had planned to have Subway for tea but Pete has just called and they are closed so dinner is up in the air at the moment. Typical, plan to start off on a good note and everything goes to poop. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

Oh, during my Christmas whinge about everything going wrong, I forgot to tell you what I got for Christmas. The girls(Pete) gave me a pair of ruby stud earrings, a new locket with "Special Mum" engraved on the front and "Love you Always" on the back and Pete gave me a voucher for a 2 hour treatment at a day spa including salt scrub, mud wrap, milk bath and a 30min massage. I can't wait to use it!

On the home front, Caitlyn gave us a nice New Years present last night. She went to bed at 8.30pm, stirred around 9ish but got her back to sleep quickly and then she woke at 2.05am. She had her feed and settled within half an hour and then woke at 5.40am, back to sleep by 6am and woke at 8am. If only mummy and daddy hadn't been silly and gone to bed at 11.15pm(she she was due for her next feed).

Unfortunately, she has decided that she no longer wants to nap more that 20min lately. Yesterday she had a 20min nap in the morning, but I did manage to get her to sleep 2 hours at 2pm. Today she slept only 10mins for her daddy while I was at the movies, then when I came home she went down for only another 20mins and a quick 15mins late this afternoon. It is making the days very long and tiring so I need to find a way to make her nap properly.

Bethany is really being very good. I know at times when she is trying to get our attention away from Caitlyn that it makes things strained but most of the time she is excellent. Like tonight she found out her grandad is coming tomorrow so she went and picked up every toy she had out in the lounge room. I really am very proud of her, I just wish I wasn't so tired and so busy with Caitlyn that I could spend more time with her. Even Pete said tonight how much easier it was when she was born because it was just her we had to worry about. I hope she is really dealing with all the changes OK.

Well it is now 9.15pm and I'm really exhausted. I think Caitlyn may have finally settled for the night so will go have a shower and get to bed a lot earlier than last night.

Catch everyone later.
